Made-in-Pakistan EV Scooter Price

A Pakistani startup firm evee electric has launched the first made-in-Pakistan EV Scooter for the local Pakistani market. The company has shared several photos of its first model C1 Scooter on its Facebook page. Though the design and features look enticing, what people really wanted to know was its price. So today, the made-in-Pakistan EVF scooter price was announced at 3 pm.
Evee Electric had been sharing teasers for the price announcement since February 6th. The company shared photos of artworks indicating a price announcement on 8th February. The company also changed the cover photo of its page to a similar artwork. These posts were made not only to let customers know when the price will be announced but also to market their product.

The company has announced the price of its Made-in-Pakistan EV Scooter, and it is Rs. 175,000. This is cheaper than the major players, such as Honda and Yamaha. Though it is more expensive than Jolta’s electric bike and advertises a lesser range.

During this extreme inflation and record devaluation of the Pakistani rupee, all cars and bike companies have hiked their prices. In times like these, an electric scooter, that too made in Pakistan, was expected to be of too high a cost. But, this price seems quite competitive. Given the fact that you can save a lot of money on fuel, this price can be termed an investment.

The bike has several features and boasts a range of 60km on a single charge. Other features include:

• Range: 50-60 km

• Anti Theft Alarm

• Reverse Gear

• Hub Magnetic Coil

• Up to 550 Charging Cycles

• Max Speed: 55 km/hr

• 1200W Motor

• Load Capacity 150KG

• Charging time: 6 to 7 Hours

• 12 Tube vector controller

• Disk brake

• Color Display Meter

The Evee C1 scooter is available in 3 colors

• Ruby Red

• Ivory White

• Midnight Blue

Feeling of bikers

I see people always saying that bikes are dangerous, Bas thori speed k liyay jan ko khataray mein daltay ho, paghal ho jo taez chalata ho, etc. Jab ek biker Ghar say bahir nikalta hy, us ko is risk ka pata Hota hy k shaed woh Ghar wapis na aye. Yeh bike chalana Bas shok nhi, it’s a passion it’s way off life. You come to life when you twist the throttle and leave your soul and thoughts behind and it’s just you and your beast and nothing else exists. Yeh shouk nhi hamari zindagi. Aksar log is ko bawakoofi samjhtay hein Lekin woh kabhi woh nhi samjhtay k ham us k baghair murdah hein. Stop telling us k ham meter lock krnay k liyay paghal hein. If I ever go out on my baby, remember I was smiling and went out doing what I love the most. Ap nhi samjho gay babu

Kia Picanto Gets A Facelift With New Engines And Tech

Picanto is the smallest offering from the Kia family and it has gotten a facelift with exciting new technology features, refreshed styling, and more engine options. Kia Pakistan has also launched Picanto in the country. However, the new facelift will not be coming to Pakistan anytime soon. For now, Pakistan is getting the second generation of Picanto. The facelift version of Picanto will be available first in Europe in the third quarter of 2020. Prices have not yet been revealed by Kia.

Exterior

Major differences in the exterior are more pronounced in the GT-line and X-line models. Prominent changes in the exterior are made to the headlights, bumpers, front grille, and taillights. New exterior colors are also introduced with more options for alloy wheels. There are a total of 10 exterior colors offered with the new model and two new alloy wheel designs. The signature “tiger-nose” grille is more prominent now.

The LED combination taillights seem to be inspired by the Kia Telluride SUV that adds a premium feel to the exterior. New Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) design is also featured on the higher-spec GT-line and X-line models. Moreover, the GT-line gets red and gloss black highlights at the front. The fog lamps are shaped like small jewels. The X-line gets black highlights on the wheel arches and chrome trim on the bumpers.

Interior

Instead of an 7-inch infotainment screen, offered with the previous model, there is now an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard features now. Two devices can be paired with the infotainment system simultaneously. The infotainment system gets a new app-based system to run different applications smoothly and without much lag. The new UVO telematics system from Kia is also integrated into the new infotainment system. You can now choose different color packages for the interior. New options for the upholstery also make the cabin more lively and premium-looking. You can choose between black cloth or synthetic leather for seats.

Performance

The facelift version has three different powertrains or engine options. Kia is calling these engines the “Smartstream” engine as they are designed to improve fuel efficiency. This aspect makes the latest model ideal for driving in the city. The base 1.0L naturally-aspirated engine produces 66bhp and the one above it is a 1.2L naturally-aspirated engine produces 83bhp. The new naturally-aspirated engines use dual-port fuel injection system. The new engines also have improved thermal management, improved exhaust gas re-circulation and optimized intake valve timing. All of these things help the new Picanto more fuel-efficient.

The top-of-the-line turbocharged 1.0L engine produces 99bhp. This engine has a better cooling system and a new high-pressure injection system. You can also get your Picanto with a new 5-speed automated manual gearbox that combines benefits of an automatic transmission with a higher fuel average of a manual gearbox. With the help of actuators, the clutch operation is made automatic for gear shifts.

Comfort and Safety

New safety features include blindspot monitoring, driver attention warning, pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic emergency braking. Other standard safety features are also present like airbags. The new upholstery options make the interior more comfortable to drive in for longer journeys. Even in an urban environment, the suspension is soft over bumps, making daily commutes to work and elsewhere very convenient.

Verdict

The new engine options, new safety technology, and better exterior features make this small hatchback a catchy and captivating choice for buyers. Kia has made this segment more competitive by introducing some of the features that it offers with its high-end premium models. It seems like the facelifted model will surely be popular among consumers and let’s hope we get this facelift in Pakistan as well.

Pakistan To Get Euro 5 Petrol As PSO Starts Its Import

The current government has laid a lot of emphasis on the need to curb pollution from Pakistan. One of the ways to achieve this goal is to burn cleaner fuels in cars and other vehicles. Recently, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has started importing Euro 5 petrol which is a much cleaner alternative to the current offering. PSO will import Euro 5 petrol from the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation at first to check its commercial viability in Pakistan. Moreover, the Petroleum Division has intimated OMCs to import petrol that conforms to the standards of Euro 5. They have to conform to this rule by the end of 2020 for petrol and early 2021 for diesel.

Pakistan depends on Kuwait for importing petroleum products in the country. The local refineries are unable to meet the growing demand. Pakistan also gets petrol and diesel on deferred payment from Kuwait. Both the PSO and the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation are state-run companies. Pakistan already has agreements to import Euro 2 petrol and diesel till the end of 2020. If PSO is able to successfully import and sell Euro 5 petrol in Pakistan, then it will put the country ahead of a lot of nations across the globe in terms of adopting cleaner fuels.

We have seen over the years that the inferior quality of fuel in Pakistan not only causes pollution but also causes problems for vehicles that burn it. The Prime Minister also indicated last year that Pakistan will start using a better grade of fuel in the near future. Inferior quality fuel also clogs up catalytic converters in cars. Currently, Euro 6 is the most refined and highest quality fuel available in the world. Seeing this, Euro 5 grade fuel is a huge step in the right direction for Pakistan.

During cold weather, major urban areas in Pakistan face intense smog and air pollution. This smog also decreases visibility on highways besides causing several health problems. Pollution arising from traffic on roads contributes to a great extent to the overall air pollution in the country. Curbing pollution through making available better quality fuel will be beneficial for everyone.

Public Transport And Ride-Hailing Service To Get Operational In Sindh

After a long period of lockdown and social distancing measures, the Government of Sindh has agreed to make public transportation and ride-hailing services operational in the province. It was decided in a meeting between transporters and government officials. Syed Awais Qadir, Minister of Transport, also validated this decision. Proper guidelines and SOPs have been laid out for both public transportation and ride-hailing services to control the spread of the virus. Under these SOPs, only two people will be allowed to travel in a car under ride-hailing services.

To ensure that there is compliance with the SOPs enforced by the government, an inspection and monitoring cell was formed earlier. The task of this monitoring cell will be to report instances where SOPs are not being followed. If the reported instances of SOP violations are high in the future, public transportation and ride-hailing services will be stopped again. Commuters need to wear masks and remain at a safe distance from each other. A responsible behavior from the public will keep transportation services open for everyone. Buses will be not be stuffed or overloaded with passengers in any case.

Drivers are also intimated to provide hand sanitizer to the passengers entering the bus or car. They also need to ensure that everyone is practicing social distancing measures in the bus. Failure to do so will result in strict action against the driver. On the request of the federal government, provincial governments of Sindh and KPK halted public transportation. However, recently both the provinces resumed public transportation to facilitate daily commuters going to work and elsewhere.

Previously, the Punjab Government made it compulsory to obtain tickets from the online ticketing system of the inter-city bus service. Buses are disinfected after every trip and there are hand sanitizers in the buses. Online ticketing will see a surge even after coronavirus is over as it is convenient for the commuters.

The Upcoming Honda City In Pakistan; Preliminary Update!!

When it comes to cars like Corolla and Civic, everyone gets excited to know something new about them and it is also seen when recently the 12th Generation Corolla was spotted for the first time in the country. Regardless of the slowdown in the Pakistani auto sector, there are still developments going on like for example, back in March, Toyota Indus revealed the most anticipated Toyota Yaris sedan. Hyundai is near its official launch of Tucson and Elantra, while some new entrants are also working on their releases as well.

Beside Corolla and Civic, there is one another model in our market which has always been point of discussion in good or bad way and you can guess it easily, ” The Honda City “. Although Civic is the flagship model for Honda Atlas, it is statistically Honda City which has been running the show and bread and butter for the Honda Atlas Pakistan Limited [HAPL] . The current model was introduced in 2009 and it is still here after these 11 years, with back to back minor face lifts year after year . There has been so much written about this already that It does not even feel appropriate to write again. Anyways, a consumer in the market has been always on his toes whenever there is slight indication or any news about the replacement of the currently available Honda City.

Normally cars are released and understood by their generation and chassis codes. The generation of City currently is Pakistan is as old as my 7th grader . Came back in 2009 and 5th generation in line with chassis code GM2/GM3. The 5th generation was replaced by 6th in 2014 which has chassis code GM4/GM5/GM6/GM9. The various chassis code is for the fact that the same generation model is known with different names in different markets or with some different technicalities under the skin. Honda City in our region/ ASEAN is known as GM6 and it came in 2014 and remained till 2019.

The GM6 is replaced with the new serial and it is GN1, which is the most recent Honda City and 7th generation and was revealed in Thailand in November 2019. GN1 was about to release in India as well in March 2020 but because of COVID-19, the launch is delayed. Pakistan follow Honda Indonesia for their product lineup and currently Honda has not released the new City in Indonesia and it is also delayed there as well. Honda Indonesia do get Honda City from Thailand assembly plant for their market. The GN1 is altogether brand new inside out and ground up. Influenced by current Honda styling on front and specifically Honda Civic. The new City is bolder, bigger and as per Honda much better equipped and have much improved driving dynamics.

Couple of months ago, we had a an unofficial /undocumented news and rumor about Honda Atlas working on replacing the current generation of City in Pakistan. Back then there was no official confirmation or denial but now it seems like this is for sure happening but there might be a twist in it & by twist means some change in the strategy. We will not go in detail about GN1 in this article because unfortunately that is the actual twist.

The initial rumor circulating among automotive enthusiast who follow local car scene, was that Honda Atlas is working on bringing the GN1, which is the newest generation of Honda City BUT it looks like this is not happening.

Now as per the recent Pakistan Import Data, Honda Atlas imported a CBU/ Completely Built Unit of a 6th generation City from Thailand. The import data shows a “GM6” Honda City with L15Z engine which has a 1.5L engine and it is thee same engine also currently available in the PK Honda City in one of its variant . Car companies in Pakistan import built cars as demo units to develop local models, including the parts development/ supply chain and it is typical procedure everywhere across the world .

So, what does this mean ? It looks like that YES for sure Honda Atlas is working on replacing the more than decade old City BUT is the replacement coming in form of 6th generation ? The generation which is discontinued or about to be discontinued in other regions. The only reason one can understand for this import of a GM6 chassis vehicle is the possible development of it locally by Honda Atlas. This development might not be very welcoming among many of Honda fans and other potential buyers who have been waiting for new City for a very long time.

For reference GM6 pictures are shared for understanding the model shape. Many people in Pakistan has seen this vehicle already and nothing new or hidden as far as design because a Hybrid variant of this model is known as Honda Grace in Japan and has been imported into the country as JDM used car vehicle.

Thailand GM6 Face-lift shown [ now discontinued in Thailand ]

Arrival of Toyota Yaris sedan might actually be eating Honda City share and the segment which was ruled by Honda City for a very long time has now a competitor. City is Honda Atlas main selling product and now with an option to buyers, they will start loosing sales and even features like shark-fin antenna might not save it although Toyota Yaris dont have that . Developing a GN1 /7th City means couple of years will be required in addition to huge investment and with current state of local car industry , it could be the reason we will not see the new generation of City available outside in Pakistan and will still be a generation behind other countries. Honda Atlas might also be sensing that arrival of Yaris might hit sales figures of their City and they need something quickly in the market to keep the boat sailing.

The GN1, which is the latest generation of Honda City is on an entire new Honda platform and do need major investment and upgrades to assembly plant while GM6 generation is not very different from the Honda City currently we have in Pakistan as far as platform and it looks like Honda Atlas might be working on bringing once again an older generation of City instead of the latest and call it once again ” New City ” . GM6 got face-lift during its lifetime and Honda Atlas most probably will be bringing the face-lift IF ATLAS has decided to bring the GM6 City.

Unfortunately most of the public wants “NEW SHAPE” and for them from current Honda City to GM6 will suffice. Buyers happily buy current City in Pakistan even being older generation with multiple fake-lifts [ face-lifts ] and they will still buy the 6th / GM6 , no matter if it is already dead everywhere else. I wish Honda Atlas started their home-work on this project 6 years ago and today we would be talking about the Honda City we all wish we get like the other get outside Pakistan. Honda Atlas never invested towards the development of Honda City inline with international models because there was no competition in the market all these years and unfortunately the status will still remain the same if we will be getting the one generation discontinued model replacing a two generation older model.

We can safely assume that if HAPL is working on development of GM6 City, we might be able to see it in a flesh within a year time. Lastly its too early to say what’s going on with Atlas but few facts give us some direction to make some guesses. Once we have more info, we will share . As of now nothing is officially confirmed and I leave it to readers to make an opinion on basis of available resources.
